Outside Sales Representative, National Accounts
Location: Canton, MA
Job Description: An Outside Sales Representative will be the prime representative of the electrical distributor to customers. It is the salesperson’s function to solicit orders within the guidelines established by management. Salespersons are expected to maintain a solid customer-distributor relationship. This position is 70% selling and 30% support, internal and external customers.
Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain a technical proficiently and act a customer liaison (“help desk”).
• Make personal sales calls at the customer’s establishments on a regular basis.
• Introduce and demonstrate new products to the trade.
• Keep customers informed of all relevant company policies (credit, returns, etc.)
• Report any observed customer financial weakness to Credit Manager.
• Assist customers in pricing bills of materials.
• Follow up all quotations, writing orders whenever possible.
• Report competitive conditions and feedback from customer to management.
• Cooperate with suppliers to secure mutual business through joint calls.
• Satisfy customers’ requirements for literature, catalogs, price sheets, etc.
• Follow-up with customers and vendors on billing resolution and returns.
• Develop superior product knowledge to handle difficult customer applications.
• Constantly seek new customers and opportunities.
• Execute sales effort in an ethical and professional manner that will favorable reflect the reputation of both sales person and the company.
• Analyze market conditions and /or changes in assigned territory.
• Look for creative methods and techniques for supportive selling.
• Work with PM to facilitate projects and follow-up on leads.
• Maintain a technical proficiency and act as an internal reference and support person.
Experience Required:
• Neat, professional in appearance.
• Exceptional sales personality.
• Extensive product knowledge.
• Good ability with figures.
• Pleasant telephone voice.
• To work harmoniously with co-workers in all departments.
• To maintain the goodwill of the company’s customers and potential customers.
• This position requires a minimum of 60% travel. Overnight travel required.
• Must be able to work weekend trade show events and sales meetings.
